Yoga for the body

Yoga is an indispensable aid to good health and our yoga programme at the Hermitage is under the tutelage of Dr. Saranya Pullur (BNYS), who is a consultant doctor for Yoga and Naturopathy for eleven years.

Dr. Pullur has a bachelor degree in Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences, SDM Naturopathy College, Ujre. MSc. Clinical Nutrition from Mysore University. She is experienced in Holistic Health streams like Yoga, Hydrotherapy, Diet and Exercise based Lifestyle modifications, Acupuncture, Acupressure, Reflexology, Manipulative therapies, Physiotherapy, Colour therapy, and Ayurveda.

Dr. Saranya offers a complimentary class each morning from 8 – 8.45 am. This is really for beginners, so those of you are practiced in yoga or would like more advanced tuition one-to-one (or in very small groups of two or three maximum) are advised to book a private class with her. These are available at your convenience throughout the day.

All classes take place in our beautiful Patanjali Yoga Hall near the beach.

Yoga for the mind

Dr. Saranya also teaches two types of yoga meditation.

Ashtanga Meditation.

This is a course of minimum 2 and maximum five days, each daily session taking 1 hour.

Each course comprises:

  • Introductory talk
  • Breathing exercises (pranayama)
  • Mental concentration (dhyana)
  • Deep concentration (samadhi)

Pranic Energy Meditation

This is normally a one-hour-long session involving:

  • Introduction to ‘the vital force’ (prana)
  • Focussing on the chakras to energise the body from base to crown.

"Neeleshwar is hybrid of a boutique hotel and an Ayurvedic wellness centre. Its 18 palm roofed villas are scattered across the sand, their porches cooled by spinning ceiling fans, and at the rear of each is a large outdoor bathroom with a tub set in a small walled garden. At the seafood restaurant, tables spill out into the beach, freshly draped in new combinations of linens for each meal: turquoise and pink or deep orange and violet."
