Clams Ularthitathu



Clams - 500 gm
Shallots - 300 gm
Onion - 50 gm
(crushed) - 20 gm
Garam masala - 5 gm
Chilly powder - 10 gm
Coriander powder - 10 gm 
Pepper - 8 gm
Turmeric - 3 gm
Curry leaves - 10 gm
Salt - As reqd
Oil - 20 ml
Coconut slices - 30 gm
Tomato - 100 gm


  1. Boil clams and remove from shell. Clean and keep aside. 
  2. Sauté onions in the oil. 
  3. Add crushed ginger-garlic. 
  4. After sautéing, add all spice powders and sauté well with tomatoes until oil separates. 
  5. Add clams and 1/4 cup of water just enough to cook. 
  6. Stir in coconut slices, enough curry leaves to get typical Kerala taste. 
  7. Close and cook on medium heat until all water evaporates and all masala gets mixed thoroughly. 
  8. Finish it with fresh curry leaves and coconut oil..
